David Arnold

President

David Arnold is anything but boring. In fact, there are so many interesting facts about his colorful past, it’s hard to choose just one or two.

For example, he has studied Eastern culture and aesthetics specializing in wabi-sabi (the Japanese art of flawed beauty and imperfection) and has also studied and attained mutiple levels in Ikabana from the Ichiyo school . David's father was also a Methodist minister who ran moonshine (but never on Sundays). Lord knows the man had to feed 3 hungry boys. 

David is an accomplished artist in oils as well as ceramics (he has pieces in the Smithsonian). He’s had one-man shows in galleries from New York to Florida, and has had work commissioned by numerous private collectors, including Halle, Berry, Hamilton Jordan and Charlie Gibson. He has studed with abstract impessionist Robert Motherwell from Stanford University, Toshiko Takaezu from Princeton University and Paul Soldner from Scripts College.  He’s also worked as a professional photographer, shooting for Saks Fifth Avenue, Women’s Wear Daily and many Fortune 1000 companies.

He started The Partnership in 1977, and two of his original clients are still clients today.

David also loves to win (SEC football anyone?). An accomplished equestrian, he rode competitively for nine years, winning several national championships and top five rankings in the world championships, and entered the Olympic trials for the Beijing Olympics in Reining. He also studied with Monty Roberts the original Horse Whisperer and sometimes uses those same mind bending tricks on humans, but just for good not evil. David’s also won over 200 national and international awards for his work in film and print, and was voted one of the “Top 100 Most Creative People in America.” He also holds 10 U.S. Patents for inventions created for internet marketing automation.

Of course these days, David’s competitive streak is fed by winning business both for the agency and his clients. He believes the best way to accomplish that is to offer a full range of integrated services—digital marketing, design, and advertising communications.

He runs The Partnership with a firm hand on the reins (must be that equestrian thing), and has helped guide several accounts to greatness over the years, including BellSouth, Dow Chemical, Monsanto, Wrangler, Kimberly-Clark, InterContinental Hotels Group, Amoco ,Russell Athletics and many more.

Last but not least, he’s on the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Tillman Douglas

Managing Director

Some people go along with the status quo. Tillman sets it. Since graduating from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, Tillman has been involved with starting and selling four companies, including one of Atlanta’s first digital marketing firms, Interweb, back in 1995 when most people thought something called the Internet was for fishing.

Since then, Tillman has been on a roll, garnering kudos from agencies and clients such as Coca-Cola, NAPA, Turner Broadcasting, Time Warner, Georgia Power, Shaw, UPS, Clearleap, AT&T and many more. He even managed to attract the attention of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Atlanta Business Chronicle (one of their 40 Under 40), Sales and Marketing Management and Georgia Trend Magazine. He was even named a Director of the Georgia Technology Authority by Governor Sonny Perdue in 2006 in recognition of his long-term role in the local digital community.

Tillman also places a high priority on giving back to the community, serving on multiple non-profit and alumni boards, including UGA’s Terry College, Westminster and Trinity Schools. In his spare time (how he has any we can’t figure out), Tillman loves golf and spending time with family. He’s also one of the best dressed people you’ll meet anywhere and ties a mean bowtie, which is almost as hard as hitting a solid three iron. Tillman’s got both down cold.

Rick Mitchell

SVP, Program Strategy Director

A member of The Partnership since its inception, Rick has been involved in virtually every aspect of The Partnership’s relationship with clients. An Auburn grad, Rick earned a BFA in Design after spending his first two years in the aerospace engineering program. Rick’s artistic side and his technical background continue to influence his work on a wide variety of accounts. As an early adaptor of technology, Rick helped lead The Partnership into the interactive field.

Rick’s design work has received awards from professional publications and organizations, such as Communication Arts, Print Annual, Art Direction, and The Advertising Club of New York (Andy).

Today, Rick’s role at The Partnership focuses on client service and developing technology infrastructures. He is directly involved in day-to-day work for all IHG brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and their extended-stay hotel brands,  IHG Army Hotels, as well as IHG Global Sales and the IHG Owners Association.

Chelsea Kauss

Senior Account Manager

The first time Chelsea saw Mt. Rainier rising majestically 14,411 feet into the sky, she said to herself, “I’d really like to test the limits of my endurance and climb that!” And that’s just what she did. Well, half of it. It was a spur-of-the-moment thing and she didn’t have the right gear to reach the summit. But in true Chelsea fashion, she’s planning a trip back to climb the entire mountain – this time, with all the proper equipment. 

That’s Chelsea. Never a goal too outrageous. Never a challenge too big. And that spirit is what has made her such a success over the past 5+ years working on global and regional accounts in the automotive, energy and healthcare industries. From her duties of maintaining the day-to-day contact with her clients to working with the various agency creative, strategic, media and traffic teams, Chelsea approaches each project as an opportunity to generate success for her clients and agency. 

A graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, Chelsea began her career working as a Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator at a regional medical center before becoming an Account Executive at a couple prominent advertising agencies. As she honed her communication and organization skills, Chelsea began to look for an agency where she could further utilize those skills – and infuse a bit of her sense of humor into the mix. And she found the perfect fit at The Partnership.

When she’s not managing the marketing success of her clients, or scaling some mountain in the Pacific Northwest, you can find Chelsea in the kitchen whipping up some sort of epic meal or planning her next adventure – skydiving or a taking a tour of Europe.

Ashley Nix

Digital Strategist

It’s been said that if you make a career out of something you love then you’ll never work a day in your life. Well if that’s true, Ashley has it made. And thankfully, so do our clients.

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications Production with cum laude honors from the University of Florida, Ashley moved to Atlanta to work on reality television shows for A&E and MTV. After a few years, she moved on to The Weather Channel where she found her newest passion: Twitter. After tweeting live weather events from her personal account, she started to get followers. Then those followers started engaging with her. Before she knew it, she was taking a leap of faith and changing careers – joining an Atlanta-based social media marketing agency. 

Knowing she found her groove, Ashley became obsessed with all things social and quickly rose through the ranks to become the sole Social Media Manager for a sister company of her agency. From there, she moved to the corporate side, helping her new company launch their Instagram account, redesign their blog and initiate their Influencer Marketing strategy. And now, she’s found a home at The Partnership.

Ashley is a board member for the Atlanta Gator Club Young Alumni Chapter, a member of the Social Media Club of Atlanta and is Sprinklr Social Media Listening Certified. And, to top it all off, she was voted Tweet Elite in the June 2014 issue of JEZEBEL magazine. So if you ever have a social media question, Ashley is definitely the person you want to call – or tweet.

Lucas Alvarez

Art Director

Lucas was born to design. Seriously, he had no choice. His mother is an interior designer and his father is a landscape architect. It’s in his DNA. It’s rumored he knew how to operate a MAC before he took his first steps. 

Lucas graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a BFA in Graphic Design. While in school, he landed a coveted internship at an Atlanta-based interactive agency where he further honed his skills working on various web and logo designs. Upon graduation, he took a position as a designer at branding and graphic design agency working on both global and regional accounts. A few years later, Lucas joined us here at The Partnership as art director where he is utilizing his skills and expertise to help evolve our clients’ brands. 

On the few occasions when Lucas is not strapped to his MAC, he can be found at Funtime Bowl sporting his Lucky Strikes team bowling shirt or relaxing at home teaching himself how to play the guitar. But whatever he’s doing, you rest assured there’s a sketchpad full of ideas within arms reach – much to the delight of Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez.

Lisa Stover

Finance Manager (AKA Princess of Everything)

Technically speaking, Lisa controls the finances of the agency. In reality, she controls much more than that. While we affectionately call her “Princess of Everything”, she kinda is. Nothing happens without her knowledge. And that’s a good thing.

Over the past 20 years, Lisa has helped agencies manage their finances and bottom lines. Some say her gift for knowing where to trim the fat comes from her natural intuition and attention to detail. Other say it comes from her days of being a personal trainer. Whatever the case, Lisa is passionate about her work, collaborating closely with David Arnold, our President, to manage the health of The Partnership’s finances and the budgets of our clients.

We are extremely grateful to have Lisa at The Partnership. Her dedication to ensuring the well being of the agency, our staff and our clients is evident in everything she does. Although when she says give me 20, we’re not sure if we need to give her $20 or 20 pushups. We tend to do both.

Kareem Rankine, CIPM

Research Development Manager

Kareem is a strategically focused and visionary individual with proven success working in culturally diverse international environments influencing business growth and market captaincy through strategic planning, research and special projects supporting organizations in their Mission and Vision.


Prior to joining The Partnership, Kareem was engaged by Jamaica’s largest retail organization fulfilling a pivotal leadership mandate as Inventory Manager overseeing the company’s inventory levels and loss management for all stores. His Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) improvements achieved 6.5 million JMD saving in the first fiscal year. 

As Project Research Manager for Maier and Associates Consulting, Kareem honed his expertise in managing million-dollar operating and capital budgets on US Government projects. He is an incisive negotiator and strategist with a talent for creating operational plans, tapping into new streamlined processes, solidifying partnerships and paving the way for sustained revenue growth.  

Kareem’s accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, an International Purchasing Manager Certification and Diploma in International Shipping.  Kareem has volunteered his time with Vanguard Pathfinder Club, Red Cross, and many other non-profit organizations and programs and is a member of Toastmasters International.

J.P. Maier

EVP, Government Markets

Our Government Compliance team is led by John "J.P." Maier. A former federal contracting officer with a current COR rating, J.P. has over 30 years of experience in government contract management.

For example, while working for the Department of Homeland Security, he was a critical resource on a $7.2 billion five-year digital map modernization/GIS project, the largest funded project in FEMA’s history.

His implementation of a quality assurance/quality control process reduced the error and delay rate by 300% and saved $5 million in its first year alone. He routinely briefed governors, congressional and White House staffers on outreach program development and shared techniques for success.

Not surprising, considering J.P.’s multiple advanced degrees—PhDs in Organizational Psychology, Policy and Procedure and a JD in Contract Law as well as dual Masters in Management and Education Leadership. He’s also a Distinguished Toastmaster and a Master Freemason.

J.P. is also very proud to have served in the active duty Air Force for almost 13 years, achieving the title of Superintendent of Services for the Strategic Air Command.

Ha Van Bui

Assistant Account Manager, GSA

Even since he was a young child, Van has had a passion for business. So it came as no surprise to anyone when he enrolled in the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems.

Today, as the Assistant Account Manager for the General Services Administration (GSA), Van uses his skills and expertise to help clients seamlessly integrate the vast, sometimes overwhelming, world of technology and digital information with their business practices and models. Never one to shy away from a challenge, he tackles issues head-on analytically and systematically to develop strategic, effective solutions.

When he’s not helping our clients achieve their goals, you can find Van at the Georgia Dome cheering on the Falcons, leading the Tomahawk Chop at a Braves game or sitting courtside at Philips Arena.
